Weekend Trip

Over the weekend my parents and I traveled to one of my favorite places.. Berlin, OH.
It's pretty much Amish country with lots of great little shops and antique stores that you can get lost in forever..
One thing that they have that Northwest Ohio does not are amazing bulk food stores.. I'm not talking Costco or anything like that.. I'm talking three aisles of goodness and that's your store.

And everything is packaged neatly into little bags like this..

I had to say no to a couple of other hot chocolate choices, but I walked away with the White Hot Chocolate and the French Vanilla Hot Chocolate Mixes.

I can't wait to try these out!

FACEBOOK SALE!

Fall Shows

There are a lot of good shows on this Fall and there's actually quite a few new shows that I'm beginning to really like. Usually it's hard for me to first get into a new show, but once I'm hooked I want the show to be airing every single night so I know what's happening next.

Here's a few of my favorite Fall shows that are new and returning..

Ringer
{CW}

American Horror Story
{I just started watching this yesterday online and if you're looking for a twisted show the Halloween, this is definitely one to watch.. on FX}

Desperate Housewives
{ABC}

The Secret Circle
{CW}

Vampire Diaries
{I'm obsessed with this show and this season has definitely taken a bit of a turn. I DVR this and watch it when it's airing, this way I can watch the entire season all over again when I need VD fix.. CW}

Revenge
{ABC}

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
{Bravo}

Unforgettable
{I just started watching this online as well.. so I'm not sure what channel it's on}

And of course, Castle
{ABC}

Another thing that I love doing is waiting until a season is completely over and then I like to re-watch everything online again.. then I feel like I can watch everything in a row and it's like watching a very long movie.

What are some of your favorite Fall shows?

DIY: Bows.. and a puppy feature

There are so many tutorials for bows out there. A lot of them involve a lot of sewing.. according to me who doesn't do a lot of it due to not enough experience. Even though it might only be a little sewing, there are certainly faster ways to get a bow done. So let me share with you the way I make mine..

1. Supplies:
Fabric, Ruler (optional), thread, needle, rotary cutter & cutting mat.

2. Cut out the fabric. This can be any size.. you will be doing a lot of folding, so make sure you cut the fabric a little larger if you're making a large bow.
3. Fold the two horizontal ends so they touch in the middle.
4. Take the vertical ends and also fold those in. Make sure these pieces overlap so you can sew everything together.
5. Scrunch the middle of the fabric together and then stitch your bow together in the center.
6.Take your smaller piece of fabric and fold it vertically.
7. Take that piece of fabric and wrap it around the center of the bow, make sure this covers all of the stitching that might be showing in the front.

Fluff up your bow.. add a bobby pin, hair clip, pin.. anything really.

You can even make them for your dog..

Hope is a thing..

DIY: Place Card Holders

Supplies:
Polymer clay, wire, wire cutters, round nose internal pliers, glitter paint, baking sheet.

1. Take a large section of your polymer clay and roll it into a ball.. take the ball and hit it a few times against your baking sheet to make the bottom flat.
2 & 3. You can now take your wire and internal plier to begin curling the wire.
4. Take your wire and trim the excess amount so that it doesn't stick out too much from the ball.
5. Add the wire to the top of the clay ball by pushing it into the clay.
Bake everything according to the instructions on the clay package.
6. Once the clay has completely cooled off, you can take the glitter paint and paint over the entire ball.

I used these for my Portfolio show a couple weeks ago to hold small signs that told people what each of the cake balls were.

RIP Steve Jobs..

I'm not really sure if you'll ever see the Apple page this way again..

What a huge impact you had on this world.
Rest in peace.

Halloween Projects

Last year I worked on a few Halloween projects and this year I am taking a break from it. I kinda figured why make something and then have to pack it away until I can use it wherever I move? So I thought that I would just do a post to show off once again the things that I made around this time last year.. and hopefully it'll give you a little bit of inspiration to make your own!

And the oh so popular..

I love this boy..

Elephant Template

I wanted to provide a template with the yesterday's post, but it wasn't quite ready yet.  Now you have the option of making two different sizes, a 3" and 4" sized elephant. I think with the mobile it would also be fun to use both sizes, maybe two 3" and one 4"?

To print the template:
Right click on the image and select Save Image to Desktop.. And Print!

DIY: Elephant.. almost Mobile

If you follow me on Pinterest you know that I recently pinned this Elephant Mobile.

While I'm planning on creating the entire mobile, I figured I'd start with an elephant to see if it was something I could even accomplish.

1. Supplies: scissors, scrapbook paper, tiny hole punch, one large and one small circular object, pen, glue, and double sided foam stickers.
2. Take your large and small circular object and trace it along the back side of the scrapbook paper.
3. Take your scissors and cut out the circles.
4. Cut the circles about 1/2 an inch in to create a flat bottom.
5. Take your large circles and match them back to back, trim excess paper from the circles so everything lines up evenly.
6. Trim the trunk, legs, and punch the hole for the elephants eyes.
7. Make a slit into the elephants to slide in the small circle, bend the ears back a little if you want them to show, or you can keep them straight like in the mobile image.
8. Open the bottom part of the elephant and add in the double sided foam stickers, I glued them in to make sure they wouldn't fall out later on. I also glued the top of the elephant together and the trunk, making the elephant flare out at the bottom.

Sit back and admire your little guy (or girl).. until we make it into a mobile!
