Serious Question..

After creating the Modern Girl Design site, it really got me thinking.
Should I change this blog to be Modern Girl as well?
Do I keep Sweet November since everyone is so familiar with it?

I need some advice and who better than to ask fellow bloggers!

Leave a comment below and let me know what you think..

Giveaway Winner & Stalking UPS

The winner for their choice of bracelet is..

Let me know which bracelet you'd like and we'll get it sent to you!

smtornow@yahoo.com

On another note.. my portfolio was supposed to be here on Thursday, of course they lied.
Delivery date got backed to today.. in the evening.
My class is at 2:30, I leave an hour and a half early, so 1:00, duh.
I got up this morning at 8:30 to go print my designs for the book I wouldn't have.
Of course my little mind got to thinking and I came up with a great solution.
I will track down stalk the UPS guy and get my package.
DING DING
That's exactly what I did.
On my way to get things printed, I spotted that amazingly awful brown truck.
I wish I was kidding, but I followed him by car for 10 minutes.. believe me, stalkerish.
I met up with the man in a little strip mall stores (you know, for the two that are there!) and begged for my package.
Not really, but I told him I was in desperate need of it!
No really, the worse part was that I waited by his truck until he came out of the store.
Thankfully he got it for me and I was on my way to get things printed!

Just thought you should know the little craziness that happened today.

Guest Post at Sweet November

Here's the facts:

I graduate in September

I have two quarters left (9 classes total)

One quarter I'll be taking five classes, the other I'll be taking four classes and doing an internship.
The internship process is taking a bit longer than expected, but I'm working on it.

I'm working a part-time job (for now)

I've come to realize that until September, blogging is going to be something that's not quite on my mind as much as it is right now. I don't want to give up on the blog, so I've come up with somewhat of a great solution. Since I won't have as much free time as I do right now, starting in April I'm going to open to our followers the chance to do a guest post. I will still be posting on the blog, just not nearly as much.

Posts will be spread out having there be two to three a week, one guest post each week if we have enough people participate.

We'd love to have posts that relate to our blog. If you would like to share a tutorial, a recipe, a giveaway, etc. As long as it relates to the blog in some way we'd love for you to participate! Plus it's a great way to promote your blog or shop! And if you have lots to share, you can do multiple posts, but only one per month.

P.S.
Posts must include pictures that are yours and not from the web!
We will not do a post without any pictures, because that's just no fun!

So you want to Guest Post?

Here's how things should work:

Email us letting us know you want to participate in a Guest Post, in this email let us know what you'd like to have you post relate to so we can get an idea if it's a good fit for the blog. If you have a week that would work better for you, let us know so we can let you know if it's available.

If we like it, we'll email you back with a date that your post will be featured on the blog.

We would like your post to be sent to us by email at least a day before it gets put up. Include your pictures in this email!!

If you would like to participate in this and help out our blog a little bit in the mean time, email us:

smtornow@yahoo.com

The first guest post will not be posted until the week of April 4th.

Giveaway: Melt'm Design Studio

Today we have a great giveaway from Melt'm Design Studio.

This is one of my absolute favorite shops on Etsy!
The designs in this shop are so eye catching.

Here's a couple of my favorite items:

I am pretty much dying over these bow earrings!

Yesterday I was finally able to make it to the Post Office to pick up these beauties.
I was surprised that since they were coming from Turkey that shipping didn't take longer, but it got here right away!
I actually wore both of these yesterday afternoon and I have to say, they're so light that you don't even notice that you're wearing them. I absolutely love that because I'm not a fan of jewelry that gets in the way!
Another thing that I love about these are that I can actually quickly slip them on and go, plus the red adds a pop of color to any outfit without being too over done!

The designer, Meltem, has decided to giveaway away on one of these bracelets from her shop.

Since they're both beautiful, I'm going to let you decide which one you'd like.

Here's how you can enter to win:

1. Follow Sweet November.

2. Visit Meltem's shop and let us know what your favorite item is.

3. Post about this giveaway on your blog.

Please leave a comment for each thing you do!

The giveaway will run until Sunday and the winner will be announced Monday morning!

A Little Bit of Nothing..

Saturday I turned

So first of all, thank you to all of you who wished me a Happy Birthday!
It truly meant a lot to me.

I know this is going to sound dreary, but I never thought I would live to be this old.
I know I say 'this old' like 22 is old, and it's not, I know that..
But in high school I had a dream one night that I don't think I'll ever forget.
The dream happened to involve a car accident and me passing away, it felt so real because sometimes when I dream of things they some times play out in somewhat the same way they did in my dream, bits and pieces, not the entire thing. Half the time when I am experiencing something during the day, not everyday, I feel like it's already happened, and that's how I connect it to a dream I might have had.
At that time in high school I had no idea what I wanted to go into for school (college), so I immediately associated that dream with why I didn't know what I wanted to do.

I've always thought that I wouldn't live to be in my 30's, for some reason I just can't see myself at that age, which hopefully is not true!

I am thankful to have lived this long and even though I'm young and I have experienced so many things, there's so much more that I'd love to experience.

So hopefully there's at least 22 more years left in me!

I know this is kind of a morbid post, but it's truly taught me to go for what I want in life, to take chances even if I fall flat on my face because I know I have a incredible support system within my family and friends.

My support system is also within you guys. If I weren't able to blab about some of my issues through this blog I would probably blow up with issues.
So thanks for being there for me through the good and the bad, and mostly for sticking it out.
Thank you. thank you, thank you!
Much love!
xoxo

Online Classes: The good, the bad, and the ugly

Sometimes online class can be good things.
They keep you from having to visit campus, which in my case is an hour and a half away.
It allows you to say how you really feel about someone's work.
It's great for speedy class time with classes only running 5 1/2 weeks.

Sometimes there can be bad things about it as well.
They might only run 5 1/2 weeks.. but projects are often times rushed, with assignments due every other day, 6 days a week.
You have to respond and critique others work in between those days.
There are revisions that need done, the same night or next day as you posted.
Critiques are often bullshitted (excuse my language) to get them done.

Sometimes things just get ugly and there are 'online arguments' that take place.
Like this one that happened today..
over this piece:

(I do not own the rights to this image. I did find it through a blog and I would love to give credit to them, but my computer completely deleted my History and I don't remember which blog it came from. If you know, I'd love to give credit for the image, because it's amazing)

{On another note, this image was only used for school (assignment) purposes, not for commission}

Excuse me?
Did you not read the description along the side?

And after I received this comment from my Instructor..

Ahhhh!
Only 2 1/2 weeks left!

Sponsors: Week 8

mmm button

My blog is a little place were I can share my design works and illustrations (I have a link to my portfolio too), craft ideas, style, personal pictures and things that inspire me. Since I just started the blog in November 2010, I still have a lot of things to share and catch up.
In May I plan on opening an Etsy shop were I will have some of my original watercolors, prints, cards and personalized jewelry for sale. Yaay!

Birthday Goodness..

With my birthday coming up next week I wanted to share with everyone a little birthday insider to a free gift.
If you sign up for the Sephora Beauty Insider (free) then on your birthday each year you get a card in the mail mentioning that you have a free birthday gift waiting for you. The gift must be either picked up in the store or you can get it through online. You can only receive it online if you make a purchase, so its best if you have a Sephora store near by where you don't have to make a purchase at all if you don't want to.

This is the birthday gift this year, which I'll be picking mine up tomorrow.
Last year it was makeup; eyeliner, mascara, and eye shadow.
