Shop Update: Necklaces

One thing that we've been lacking in the shop is jewelry.

So last night I worked on these two necklaces.
They are in the shop now, so check them out.

Emma
{cream}
$25

Sophia
{eggplant}
$20

You can see both of these necklaces here.

Last month I showed you guys a customer feature,
with two of the cutest girls around,

Well this morning on Facebook I had received a link from
Amy, the girls' mom,
showing me how she used her photos for
the new Fancy Pants collection.

The page is adorable and I'm so glad she was able to use
those photos for something!

To see her feature for Fancy Pants you can go here.

diy: stamps

As most of you know, stamps are expensive.
Maybe it's just me, since I'm a college student with no money,
but I think they are.
So I decided I was going to make some of my own..
for under $1.

Supplies:

Cut Wood
(Not sure what size I used.. handy Dad cut it for me!)
Paint (optional)
Foam sheet (.65 @ JoAnn's)
Scissors
Glue

Since I didn't want my stamps to look like wood,
I decided to paint each block.
You don't have to do this, but it looks nicer.

After this I took a template that I found online
and cut out my animal shapes with scissors.

I took the foam cut out and glued it to the block.

That's it!

And only .65 because everything else was on hand except the foam sheet!

How great is that.. custom stamps that are not a fortune.
Since these were successful, I can't wait to start making more!

Tip:

If you're looking to add a center texture / cut out to your shape,
use an x-acto knife.
(Like the tall giraffe's middle legs)
It takes a few cuts to get through the foam, but it works.

target oxford shoes

Oxfords are all the rage right now, right?

Well I picked up my first pair today at Target.

For under $5.

They only had this Brown and Black..
and of course Black was not in my size.

The best thing about them..
They're super flexible,
meaning not stiff (you know what i'm talking about),
 and comfy!

Thanks Target!
Throughout the years I've gone through many hairstyles and colors.
At this point, I can't decide which I like more.
I don't know if I like it short, medium length, long, blonde, brunette, or natural.
I feel like I liked them all at the time of having that hair style,
but honestly what looks good?

I'm at the point where I feel like I need to change it up.
Right now my color has faded from the 2010 photo,
my roots are showing, and I have split ends.
I need your help to decide which way to go.

Here's the options:
Trim the ends and go dark / blonde
Cut it short and go dark / blonde
Side swept bangs or not?

Let me know what you think below!
Thanks for you help!

can you tell i got the hair cut around my eyes?
i can finally see now.
sara bribes me with treats while she cuts it.
if not i try to eat my hair that falls to the ground.

anyways, i gotta go.
i have dog duties to do today.

and i'll get back to you in the next post.

the buckeye diaries

hi guys!

i just woke up from another nap.
today was another uneventful day.
i did have some fun though..
sara was going to mow the neighbors grass
and we played a game of who could run out of the garage the fastest
while the garage door was going down
without triggering the sensor to make the garage door go back up.
i lost several times.
after failing in our olympic hurdles, she finally
put dog food on the front steps and participated in the event alone.
she's great at it.

alright friends,
i just wanted to stop by and say hi for the first time.
i hope i'll be back many more times in the future.

i gotta get back to day dreaming, barking at anyone that goes by,
and probably take a few more naps before the days over.

love, buckeye

p.s.
if you have questions for me, i'll be back next week to answer them!

Taylor Swift Experiment

Today in class we talked about our dreams being obtainable by knowing the right people.
We were told that to make this connection, we are only a few people away from being able to achieve it.

The example tonight was wanting to design Johnny Depp's home.
To start this, someone would put on Facebook that they were trying to get into contact with him,
someone on Facebook would reply saying they know someone who has worked with him,
and then you would reply about doing lunch with this person that knows him
and the connection would go from there.

So I want to put it to the test.

My Experiment:

I want to interview Taylor Swift.

Impossible?
Maybe.

But why not try.

Five questions, if that.

And no, this is not me stalking.
Just doing a little experiment to see if this could really work.

Here's where I need your help..

If you know her, know someone who does, or someone who might know how to help out..
Please let me know!

Textured Wall Art

You have all seen my bedroom walls and how done up they are.
Well the one large wall I am going to be redoing.
The shelf in the picture will not stay up straight, so the shelf will be coming down.
Since this is happening,
I've decided to expand the wall art collage across the entire wall.
With that in mind, I knew I needed a lot more pieces to be hung up.
So I quickly got to work redoing all kinds of frames with spray paint.
Then to my advantage last week on the Made by Girl blog,
I had seen this amazing textured wall art in one of the weekly home tours Jen posts.

Here's that piece of art:

Stunning, right?

Made by Girl {source}

So, I took the gold frame.. remember that? Eh!
It got spray painted Black a while ago, so now it looks a lot better.

Then I took my Bristol board paper that I use for school (three and a half sheets to be exact)
and I spray painted them all silver.
I traced out 3" circles on the back of the paper and got to work cutting.
After they were all cut out, I took poster board and glued them on there.
And TA - DAH!

Here's my $6 art piece:

Not exactly the same, but I love how it turned out.

I think it's going to look perfect on my wall.

My Boyfriend..

My boyfriend slept over last night..

Always..

I received this email from my Mom this morning.
I thought everyone would enjoy it just as much as I did..

This is an "actual letter" from an Austin, Texas woman sent to
Proctor and Gamble regarding one of their feminine products. She
really gets rolling after the first paragraph. This was PC Magazine's
2009 Editors' Choice award-winner for the best letter sent via
e-mail.

Dear Mr. Thatcher,

I have been a loyal user of your 'Always' maxi pads for over 20 years
and I appreciate many of their features. Why, without the LeakGuard
Core or Dri-Weave absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding
or salsa dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and
down the beach in tight, white shorts.

But my favorite feature has to be your revolutionary Flexi-Wings.
Kudos on being the only company smart enough to realize how crucial
it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic I can't tell you how safe and
secure I feel each month knowing there's a little F-16 in my pants.

Have you ever had a
menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? I'm guessing you
haven't. Well, my time of the month is starting right now.  As I
type, I can already feel hormonal forces violently surging through my
body. Just a few minutes from now, my body will adjust and I'll be
transformed into what my husband likes to call 'an inbred hillbilly
with knife skills.'

Isn't the human body amazing?

As Brand Manager in the Feminine-Hygiene Division, you've no doubt
seen quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your
customer's monthly visits from 'Aunt Flo'. Therefore, you must know
about the bloating, puffiness, and cramping we endure, and about our
intense mood swings, crying jags, and out-of-control behavior. You
surely realize it's a tough time for most women.

The point is, sir, you of all people must realize that America is
just crawling with homicidal maniacs in
Capri pants... Which brings
me to the reason for my letter. Last month, while in the throes of
cramping so painful I wanted to reach inside my body and yank out my
uterus, I opened an Always maxi-pad, and there, printed on the
adhesive backing, were these words: 'Have a Happy Period.'

Are you f------ kidding me? What I mean is, does any part of your
tiny middle-manager brain really think happiness - actual smiling,
laughing happiness, is possible during a menstrual period? Did
anything mentioned above sound the least bit pleasurable? Well, did
it, James?  FYI, unless you're some kind of sick S&M freak, there
will never be anything 'happy' about a day in which you have to jack
yourself up on Motrin and Kahlua and lock yourself in your house just
so you don't march down to the local Walgreen's armed with a hunting
rifle and a sketchy plan to end your life in a blaze of glory.

For the love of God, pull your head out, man! If you have to slap a
moronic message on a maxi pad, wouldn't it make more sense to say
something that's actually pertinent, like 'Put down the Hammer' or
'Vehicular Manslaughter is Wrong'.

Sir, please inform your Accounting Department that, effective
immediately, there will be an $8 drop in monthly profits, for I have
chosen to take my maxi-pad business elsewhere. And though I will
certainly miss your Flex-Wings, I will not for one minute miss your
brand of condescending bullshit! And that's a promise I will keep.

Always. . ...

the search for barstools..

Recently, I have been looking for barstools.

I've been looking at them for my desk area because I like to be able to look down on what I'm working on. I must tell you though, it's been a very had task looking for the perfect barstool.

Everyone has been posting about CSN stores so when I seen a friends posting, I knew that was the place I would look next. They seriously have everything.. things I didn't even know I was looking for, I found there.

So of course I found some barstools that I had in mind.

I love this look, it's simple and clean.
I'm not sure how I'd like one without a back though,
I do tend to lean back when I'm trying to relax.

Then I found these to great chairs.
I really like the one above. I'm really into everything white and black, so this one is perfect.
I also really like the high back, compared to the one below.
I had recently bought a chair for my desk area, got it all put together and realized the back was not high enough, so right back to the store it went.
I do really love the all black look though.

I don't know if you've been to other blogs posting about CSN stores,
but definitely check them out!
Seriously, over 200 stores all in one place.. it's like an online outlet!

And now I need everyone's help on deciding which to get!
I'm leaning towards the white one.

Giveaway.. Last Call!!

Please don't forget that today is the last day to enter
for the Along for the Ride
$10 store credit!

The giveaway will end at midnight and the winner will be announced tomorrow morning!

Good Luck!

Hanging Scarecrow

This is my favorite Fall decoration that my mom made me a couple years ago.

Halloween Wreath

Last week I made this wreath for Halloween.
Since I'm living at home I'm bummed that I can't really decorate in "my way"
so I made this wreath and hung it in the kitchen.
At least there's something of mine out for decoration..
(not really.. I snuck some of my things out from my storage containers
and placed them around the house)

I'll show you one of my favorite fall decorations that my mom made me in my next post..
