Want to host a giveaway?

I am looking for people who would like to host a giveaway on my blog.


Here's what will happen for the giveaway:

- Giveaways will be run through the month of September.

- I will introduce you, your blog, and your shop if you have one. This will be a way for you to get more traffic to your sites. I will include your giveaway on special giveaway websites and link parties.

- Each giveaway will run for a week at a time.
Open Slots: September 6th - 11th, September 13th - 18th, September 20th - 25th, and September 27th - October 2nd.

- Winners will be announced the Sunday after your giveaway runs. I will contact you and give you the winners information.
You will be responsible for shipping the item to the winner.

- A link to your blog
- A picture of you (a colored copy so I can change it to black and white)
- A little bit about yourself and what you love to do
- A picture of the item you would like to giveaway
- And let me know which date you would prefer.

New Phone

Considering I haven't had a new phone since March of 2008, it was time to get a new one. Since my mom and I are on the same plan, I convinced her to let us upgrade.

We got the Samsung Intensity II.

Both in Blue..





So two really amazing things happened today.. here's the other.

Also, things will be leaving the shop, so if you're interested, pick up some goodies before they leave!

Getting Published..

Can I please share some fabulous news with you all?



I have items that are being published in the Simply Handmade February/March 2011 issue.
They've asked me to send my four items they've selected to Utah to have them photographed.
There were four items selected, but they said that sometimes they don't end up using every single item they originally planned on using. But FOUR items! I would say there's a good chance that at least something would get in.

I have never had anything published before.. and I honestly can't contain my excitement!

All right.. here we go..

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! :)

Okay, I'm done.. no more until it's all published.

Illustration Designs

When we were given the assignment of coming up with a character for Concept Design, it wasn't something that I was thrilled about.

Me create a character?
Hmm.. well I did.

First there were the sketches.
They did not come out very well at all.
Then after the internal review we were finally able to get to work on the final design.

Being too excited to wait around to look at my sketches more, I jumped in and got to work.

While I'm not sure exactly on what company I'll decide to use this character for, I'm thinking a bank?, here are some of the final designs that I came up with in the three hours of class time.







The bird and the piggy bank were two separate designs that I came up with for the internal review, but Kali suggested that I use both of them in the same design and that the bird should be on top of the pig.

I love how they turned out.

A new blog..

I haven't been posting a lot recently, sorry about that! Things have been kind of hectic with the last few weeks of school coming up very quickly.

I have created a blog for my shop though!

You can read why I decided to add it in a blog form here.

The other shop will continue to be open, this will just be easier.
Hopefully you'll follow it to keep updated with everything that's new.

Rainy Saturday

Let me explain today.

It rained all day.. and still is now.

We attended a birthday party.

I trimmed my split ends off myself.. I may have cut a couple inches off in the process.

I recorded some shows on TV.

I'm watching Twilight.

I'm downloading songs to iTunes.

I ate bugels, no-bake cookies, and drank a wine cooler.. yes, I had them all together.

I made headbands and pins.

I made a birthday card for my brother.

There was a trip to the Dollar Tree this morning.. craft & shipping supplies!



Needless to say, not much happened today. It has been a long and gloomy day.. and I'm ready for bed.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Yesterday was mom's 50th birthday!
Since I had class from 2:30 until 9:00 we weren't really able to do much for her birthday.
We're all home tonight so we're going to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and celebrating tonight.
With all of this happening, I was in a bit of a rush to make a card.
I found a great tutorial on this cute design, and although it's to be put on display and not on a card, I decided to make it as her birthday card.



I added different colored paper and I added glitter to the wings.. so it's a little different

Headband Giveaway Day 1

Hey everyone!

I know today is the 9th and new items are to be added in the shop today.
Problem is.. a lot of things have been going on this past week and I haven't had much time to make anything new.

Weekend Deals

I picked this dessert cookbook up for $1. I don't do a lot of cooking or baking while I'm living at home, but it's another thing to pack away to have when I'm out on my own. I don't know how old it is.. but it still had the cardboard in the back and was marked at $20. Score!



I am a frame-obsessed person. I have tons! I love to switch them out through the seasons. These will definitely not stay gold and silver.. most likely black or white. All were priced under a dollar each.



Tule and yarn. Three dollars for all! I don't knit or whatever it is you do with yarn, but I seen how to use yarn to make a hanging light.. that's what I bought it for.



I found both of these at separate garage sales, the smaller one was 15 cents and the larger one was 75 cents. Can't beat that!



Lastly, I found this great pin. I'm going to use it to add on for a necklace. It was $1 and on the back it says it's from Italy.


I have more things that I had gotten from these sales and more things I got today. Maybe there will be more tomorrow to show.

I visited my mom at the hospital today!
Hopefully she's coming home either tomorrow or Sunday.. hopefully!
As you know, after visiting a while it can get a little boring.. so I decided to take some things to work on for the shop.
Needless to say, nothing productive for the shop got completed.. only this.

I told my mom I was going to call the nurse in to see her wearing it.
I didn't have to do that, mom put it on when the nurse came in to check on her.
What a good sport she was!

Funniest Sign

Can I please tell you the funniest sign I saw today? On a bright pink poster.. "How about you pay for the fence that your kids destroyed."
Facing the street so everyone can see.
It was perfect.

New Headband

As you know I made this headband a last week..(?)
I've added it to the shop! Whoo hoo!

All of last night and today Buckeye has missed mom. So I took a picture of him with my MacBook and edited it.
We emailed it to mom tonight..



We tried Skype, but it must be with her being in the hospital that it wouldn't work on her end. He was so funny, when I talked to her on the phone I would hold the phone to his ear, every time he heard her voice he'd pull back and look at the phone.

Wild Day

Today has been a long day..

My mom has been having some problems lately and I had to take her to the hospital to have a blood test because of these problems. Well, the blood test had come back not so well, so the doctors office called our house and left a message before we even got home, saying that they wanted to admit her to keep an eye on things.
So the hospital they wanted her at is a half hour from home.. completely on the other side of town! I guess this is good because then she's able to have the doctors that she needs right there.
Anyways, as she's in her room getting everything ready, they told her that she has a big day coming up. Mom thought they were talking about her 50th Birthday which is next week and she got excited.. Nope. They were talking about her scope test that they're giving her tomorrow.

After all of this, my dad and I are on our way to get Subway and an ambulance and fire truck are going through the intersection. Hmm.. So after we pull in our neighborhood and drive down the street a little ways there's this..



All of those trucks.. right across the street!
No idea what they were even doing over there. The people that live there also own a house just up the street.. not even for sale and living in both houses. Needless to say, we don't understand them.

Most likely we'll never know what even happened over there.

I called my mom and told her I had to tell her the neighborhood gossip! Ha.

It's another long day for me tomorrow, so I'm off to bed!
