New Followers and Sewing Project

I just wanted to say a quick 'hi' to all of the new followers!
Make sure to check out the About Me section if you want to learn a little about me and take a look around the blog for inspiration, DIYs, and just every day topics.
Check out my online store.. as mentioned earlier today, there will be new items added on August 9th, so make sure to check back!
If you're a button collector.. grab one on the right sidebar!
Lastly, thanks for following my blog! I hope you'll enjoy it!

..............................................................

Tonight I attempted to use the sewing machine..
Hmph!
Considering I've never really used a sewing machine, except for the couple weeks in high school, I have no experience.
Needless to say there were lots of questions for mom.
"How do you cut this pattern out?"
"What do I do with it now?"
"How do you start it when you can't even get your fingers in there?"
"How do I go around on the corners?"
..Never ending questions!

But here's my first real sewing project!
I hope to have many more, but that will depend if the sewing machine and I can get along.

What do you think? If you can't tell.. it's a key holder thing. I don't know what it's called!
Please don't hate on me not being able to sew a straight line. My foot likes to get a little out of control and set its own speed.

I'm off to pop the top on my favorite drink and start sewing some of these by hand.. :) I'm staying clear of the sewing machine for the rest of the night!

New Headband

I made a new headband today for a giveaway that's going to be happening on another blog sometime soon!
Don't worry, I'll let you know when it's going to be going on so you can enter!

This is like the one that I made for the wedding.. only it's Yellow and not Pink!

I'm in the process of adding it to my shop. Big Cartel is not cooperating right now, so I'm trying to be patient!
What do you think? Should I add more to my shop like this?

Weekend Deals

I got this white dish/bowl (whatever it is!) for 25 cents! :)
I've been looking for something like this to start displaying my felt flowers.
It needs some cleaning up, but it's perfect!

I've been seeing a lot of clothing and other goods being made with freezer paper.
So I'm going to give it a go on these little 0-3 month onesies.
I got all five of them for a buck! Whoo hoo!
{ I was with my dad when I picked these up.. he proceeded to ask if there was something I needed to tell him }

Lastly, I picked up this Sonia Kashuk make up bag.
It's never been used and I got it for 50 cents!
And it has gorgeous colors!

Thank you yard sales!

Look..

Look at how cool this is..

Scream

Did you know Scream 4 is being filmed right now?
Do you know how much I loved these movies growing up?
Do you know that my mom use to let me watch these when I was little, had nightmares, and would be scared to stay home alone?

Now it's coming back again! Another Scream movie being filmed.. and I cannot wait for it to be out!
But do you want to know what I'm jealous about?
It's being filmed about 10-15 minutes from my school and I have not even went to see if I could get a closer look!
What's wrong with me!
It's so close to home!
Why was I not informed about an internship for this movie!

..Or even for the Harold & Kumar Christmas movie. (Eh!)

Friday Favorites

Revlon Age Defying Face Illuminator. While I'm not that old to need age defying makeup, I love this stuff. It's the perfect light blush to use. It's liquid, so you squeeze the bottle and the liquid comes out on the brush end and you rub it on your face. Perfect! No need to mess up any makeup brushes for this!

Looking for the perfect taste of summer? This is it! It's so hard to find around here (Ohio), but they sell it up at my school (Michigan). Thanks to Elizabeth for introducing it to me during our lunch! Mmm..

MacBook Pro! I love it! I use it for everything! It was requested that we buy this computer for school, since design is my major. I must say, I would never ever go back to using a PC after having this! It's amazing. Yay Apple products!

I'm obsessed with this show. On Tuesday they had a marathon going and since I had to leave at one for school I decided to DVR every single 30 minute episode until 10PM. Imagine my day on Wednesday, plopped in front of the TV to do homework and watch all the episodes! :)

I just got this a couple days ago. I wish I could show you just how much this product works! It's probably my favorite mascara that I've ever bought. It makes them look really long! And just the other day when I wore it for the first time my mom said, "Your lashes look really different today!" Thanks mom! :)

Summer Travel

Even though the end of July is upon us, some of us still have not taken that much needed summer vacation.

Like everyone who packs, we always think we're leaving something behind.
So here's a major checklist of things to make sure you have!

These are gallon sized zip storage bags. They are perfect for storing your makeup, hair products, and other items that maybe you just want a cute but cheap bag to store them in. You can find them here for $6.99 for a 30 pack.

As you know, traveling long distances or even short, can make you feel tired. I love these neck pillows from Little Honey. Not to mention, the sleep masks that match are perfect. You can find the sleep mask for $12.00 and the neck pillow for $14.99.

I love things that match! What's better than having some of your small travel holding items match? Nothing!
Z Gallerie carries these amazing matching travel accessories that range from $4.95 to $24.95.

I love taking my iPod places. I'm not to keen on sharing my music out loud, but this would be perfect if you were traveling with someone interested in the same music as you, or just traveling alone. This Tunebug is a portable speaker that plugs into your iPod, iPhone, etc. You can order it on Amazon for $69.95.. they are currently sold out. Bummer, I know.

Nothing like making a statement with your luggage right? I'm in love with these! I love the designs of all of these! Simply gorgeous! Plus it'd be so easy to find your luggage! Portland Luggage carries these 30" spinner case for $350.00.
Pretty pricey for my small budget, but if you travel a lot I'm sure it would be worth it!

Happy and safe travels to all of those traveling this summer!
If you own any of these products, let me know! I'd love to hear what you think about them!

Twitter

I've joined Twitter!
I've had it for a while, but just to do the casual stalking of celebrities.
Now the account is in full swing and I posted my first official tweet!
So if you're on Twitter and you want to follow me, you can do so here.

I wonder..

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like.
To see you, to touch you, to talk to you, to love you.. to have you here again.

I was three when you left us.
Mom always tells me stories because I can't remember you.
I try. I wish I could.
She always tells me how I use to bite your nose and you let me do it, even though you hated it.
Since high school, she's told me how proud you would be of Andrew and I.
How you're looking down on us, smiling.
We often talk about you.
I don't think that Mom likes it when I bring you up, because I always cry.
I want to know about you.
I want to feel like you're here, like I didn't miss anything.
I'm jealous of Andrew.. that he got to spend more time with you.
I'm sad that your other grandchildren didn't get to meet you, or you meet them.
Mom says you had a really deep voice that would make people turn away from you.. I wish I could hear it.

After the tornado went through and destroyed the houses just down the street from Grandma, I went through everything I had packed away in the crawl space.
I pulled out the frames with the pictures of us.
As you know, I hung them on the wall in my room.
They're here with me so that if there's any emergency, I can take the pictures down.
I could lose everything I own, but those pictures are something I'll never let go of.
They will never leave me.

When I'm really missing you and thinking about you, I'll watch Carrie Underwood's 'Temporary Home' video.
It makes me think of you.
It makes me wish I was able to have that conversation with you.
To hear you say you missed me.
To hear you say you loved me.
To hear you say you would never leave without saying goodbye.

It as well always makes me cry.
It's the only way for me to feel close to you.

So Grandpa,
I miss you.
I love you.
And one day I'll see you again.

I love you.

I Won!!

I finally won my first giveaway at Along for the Ride!
Here's what I won:

I can't wait to receive it in the mail!!
Thanks Laura!

Make sure to check out her blog and her Etsy store!

Top 2 Tuesday

This is my first time participating in The Undomestic Momma's Top 2 Tuesday.
So here are the top two things I want to purchase:

1. A new MacBook Pro. I love mine that I have but I'd really love a new one! I absolutely love Apple computers.. I would never go back to using a PC. One reason that I want a new one is so that I'd be able to have a computer for my projects at school and then to use this one for all of my at home use. I have so many projects on this thing that it's taking up a lot of space.

2. An apartment in LA. I'm really looking to move out there sometime in the next couple years, hopefully for work.. and well, living there would be incredibly expensive. What's new! I'm not looking into them right now, but someday!

Hair Crisis! Help!

I change my hair a lot. Not necessarily the cut, but the color. The last time I had my hair done was in February.. yes, this blonde has lasted this long.. even though I have plenty long dark roots.
Anyways, Today I bought some hair color. Now, I will only buy permanent color for the fact that I find it comes in better and it's more of what I expect it to be.
This time I'm trying a new brand. I've tried Clairol before.. but it was Natural Instincts (the wash out), so this time I'm trying Nice n' Easy (permanent).
My huge dilemma is that I don't know if I'm ready for that big of a change.

This is what my hair looks like now.

This is its natural color.

This is the color I bought.

This is how my hair has looked dark before.

Now tell me honestly, which looks best.
The blonde that it is now..?? The medium-ish brown..(my originial color)..?? Or dark brown..??

You might be wondering why I am dying my hair, well those dang roots are really showing and I don't have the $70 to go have my hair colored.. A box is so much cheaper.

Can I please mention that I was kind of persuaded into buying this color? I first fell in love with it in the store.. then I ran into Mrs. Turner and her husband (my third grade teacher that I loved).. and I had two boxes. Her husband picked out the color for me. He told me to be bold.

So tell me what you think.. by tomorrow morning would be perfect! :)

Friends

Over the years I've gone through many friends. Some that I've lost I had known for years and some for only months. Either way I had something invested in each friendship.
Last week I bought a letter, like the letter 'S' for Sara, for a "friend" as a gift.
The problem was that I haven't seen or talked to this person for over a year.
It hasn't seemed like that long, but it has been.
It wasn't like we chose to end our friendship.. but we just lost touch. We have new friends, new lives, new goals, new personalities, etc. We've changed. We're not the people we use to be.
Don't get me wrong. It's not like I don't have friends.. in fact, like everyone else, I think I have the best.

First there's Megan.. We've been friends since she moved in.. and since my mom forced me to go over and play Barbie's with her. We've had our ups and downs.. fights over styrofoam cups being left in my yard and over who's room would be where on the driveway. We've gotten through them all and I know she's always there as I am for her.

Then there was Taylor. We went to school together from Kindergarten through High School.. but we were never friends until we had an Ceramics class our Sophomore year. From going from not liking her all that time to becoming best friends with her.. until that Senior trip to New York when everything fell apart. But now we're great and that's how friendship works.

The Chicago ladies: Katie, Jill, Stephanie, Alison, and Katie. They might not all get along with each other anymore.. but hopefully one day we can all meet up again and be nice. :) I'm still friends with everyone, so that's all that counts.. even if I have to now spend individual time with each of them!

Kendra Marie! She was my first friend at Western, she lived in the apartment above me.. so please imagine all the times I would bang on the ceiling with a broom when she had her date over. Although we had a bit of a falling out when we were near the end of our time there, I think all is good now.

After losing so many friends over the years from our lives going in different directions, it has made me take a step back. I'm not as outgoing as I was, for the fact that I don't want to get too close to people and have them walk away in a year. In fact, I tell my mom that I'm waiting until I settle down where my job is to really find those true friends that I can trust.

{Some of these images are from High School.. taken with those that are still my friends and ones that I no longer have in my life by choice or lost communication. - Click on the image to enlarge it if you want to see them all}

I am pretty interested to hear what you think about the subject.
Do you think it's easy to let go of friends?
How long do you wait to know when someone is out of your life for good?

Celebrity Home: Marilyn Monroe

I absolutely love everything Marilyn Monroe.
Her home is up for sale and it's only 3.6 million.
I think I'll clean out my piggy bank and buy it.. ;)
I wish!

Honestly if I had that much I would for sure buy it.. Look how cute it is!
And did I mention Marilyn Monroe lived there?! Ah!!
