Headband

Here's the headband that I'm wearing in the pictures from the wedding.
I made it the night before so I would have something that matched.

Saturday Night..

Saturday night my family and I attended a truly amazing wedding.
My brother and my sister-in-law live in Virginia and told us that they wouldn't be able to make it home to Ohio for the event.
So Friday night my brother called to talk to my mom.. I told him that she was outside and we chatted a little and he said he'd call back later to talk to her.
Later in the evening when she called him back she asked him what he was doing and he said they were driving, she asked where and he said they were in Pennsylvania.. she asked if he was there for a training and he said no, so she asked where he was going, he said to Ohio!
Yesssss! Him and my sister-in-law were on their way home to surprise us for Lindsay & John's wedding!
Needless to say, EVERYONE.. yes everyone, except us knew that they were coming home for it!
What a rude couple for keeping such a secret, especially since they were just home two weeks before that!

Me & the Bride, Lindsay

(This above is our camping group. When I was little we would go camping with these six kids all the time. Remind you that this is only the children, who now have spouses (also in the picture), but we've still stuck together through the years.. even though we don't go camping anymore.)

Of course my brother Andrew and I

And my family!

Summer Dress

I have two summer weddings to attend and I had not one dress that looked summery. My initial plan was to make my own dress.. umm, fail. The sewing machine and I do not get along one bit.
So I recently bought this dress at JCPenny.

I knew when I bought the dress that I wanted to add something to it. So I came up with adding these ruffly flower things. I made each flower individually by hand and then I sewed them to a piece of felt, I added a felt backing so that I was able to add pin backs to it.
The pin backs were added because I don't know how much I'll wear this dress, other than for weddings and special occasions, so by adding the pin back I am able to remove it from the dress and add it to another t-shirt or tank top.

Needless to say, I love it!
Now I'm off to make a headband / hair clip!

What do you think?
Does is make the dress look better or worse?

Eclipse Premier

Last night was the premier for Twilight Saga Eclipse.
And that makes me extremely excited because that means the movie comes out soon!
I realize I'm 21 and that these books / movies are for teenage girls and that I should not be as in love with them as I am.. but I can't help it!
Plus I might as well be excited now since the next one doesn't come out until November 2011.. it's too far away!

So here's some of the cast from last nights premier..

RepairPal

The other day I was talking on a the phone to a roommate that I had in Chicago. She's from Houston, TX and was telling me how her car broke down and she needed to find a repair shop right away. So I told her about this site that I heard of called RepairPal. I heard about it once, completely ignored it, but I was able to remember it to help her out..Needless to say, I'm pretty glad that I remembered it!
She was able to find a location in Houston right away using her iPhone. Not only did it show her where these locations were, but they were also rated so she was able to know who she could count on with her vehicle.
After she called me later to tell me how much she loved this site, she told me how there was information on many things like an oil change or a tune up. I can't really say that I know what these things are or how they work, so I'll definitely be heading to the site to find out more information.
Not only is it beneficial for me to know these things for my well-being, but also knowing how different women are treated compared to men, like they don't know anything about what's going on with their car, in a repair shop this will help me tremendously to understand what they are talking about and what they're doing to my car!
So if you're ever in need of a fix up for your vehicle in a place you are not familiar with, pull out your phone and go to RepairPal, type in the zip code or city where you're located, pick out the repair shop that fits your needs, and be back on the road in no time!
I'd have to say this would be the perfect site to remember if you're planning on taking a family road trip this summer.. or even for the winter so you're not stranded in the snow!

Taking a trip..

I've decided that I wanted to take a little trip. My mom and I are going to head out for a couple days and I'll be back Wednesday. We're staying in Ohio still.. and I bet you'll never guess where we're going! Most of you would probably think that I wouldn't even be interested in these places.. but let me tell you.. I love the places we're going.
I can't wait to share where we went when I return.. take a guess if you'd like!

Also, these past couple weeks we've had a Robin in our front tree and I've been checking on the eggs when I know the mother isn't around (she flies away whenever we open the front door).. look what I found today!

I love the little feathers!
Can't wait to see how they are when I return!

See you on Wednesday!

Only a plane ride away..

Par·is
-noun
City of Love

I've never been to Paris but it's always on my mind and I collect a lot of things with the Eiffel Tower on them. I'd love to see this postcard on my desk in a frame.
Below I've added a few of my favorite finds that I have yet to get.

These little postcards are gorgeous right? I absolutely love the colors, the font, and of course the Eiffel Tower.
They run about $.98 per postcard and are found on the Zazzle website here.

I am in love with this print! I love the bright pink color and the fun look of the map.
You can find this print on the MadeByGirl website for $55.. while they are sold out for now, make sure to keep a watch on it for when it is in stock here.

Lastly there is this amazing little mug. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I love hot chocolate and this would be perfect for that!
The mug is sold by Yahgie for $36.. grab yours here.

One day when I have a job again, I will certainly be purchasing these items.

The real Eiffel Tower is only a plane ride away..

A little interview with MadeByGirl

Recently I was able to sit down over email with Jen from MadeByGirl.
Jen owns and runs her own online Graphic Design business and sells cards and prints to fit your style.
Her blog is filled with so much inspiration with daily postings on interior design, life, and fashion.

{Keep reading for the interview below}

Q: I just opened an online shop and I’ve been posting flyers around town advertising it. With no luck so far, it’s left me feeling like it’s never going to work out.
When you opened your online store, MadeByGirl, in 2007, how did you go about launching it and getting the word out?

A: I first shot most of my work and sent those pics to as many blogs & magazines as I could. I kept it only to the blogs that fit within my niche. I also put up my blog and started posting on a daily basis as well as exchanging links with others.

Q: What would be your advice / tips to give to someone starting their own business?
A: Just stay focused and make it your goal to get things done everyday. Try to make your business your first priority for several months.

Your office is amazing! I couldn't imagine that it would be torture being stuck in this room for long hours.

Q: With owning your own business at home and Graphic Design being such a hard field to be in with the long hours on the computer, do you feel that you have the flexibility to work on projects when you get time or do you feel pressured to get something done right away?

A: It all depends on my schedule. I have learned that managing your time appropriately helps a lot. Writing lists and crossing things off as you go really works for me.

Let's Go Shopping..

While I'm in class being bored I figured I would stop on over to Become for some online shopping.
I knew what I was looking for as soon as I came to the site.. comfortable summer sandals.
Over the years I've bought my sandals from Old Navy. I thought it was great because I was getting such a great deal with how cheap they were. I learned that they are not only cheap in price, but quality as well. They hurt my feet terribly with the way that the strap connected to the part you put your foot on. And after a couple months of having uncomfortable feet they decided to completely tear apart.
I've now learned that if I want to find shoes that are comfortable I have to pay a higher price for the shoes. The shoes that I found on Become might be a little pricey for my small budget, but they might work for you. I've found these Mephisto sandals that have some unique designs. And honestly who doesn't like some crazy cute shoes to show off with the summer season!
Now, if you go to the Become website you're going to find that when you click on an item it's going to take you to another website. I think this is great because then you're able to start viewing the other websites and what else they have to offer.
Here are some of the shoes that I fell in love with:

These are probably my favorite shoes that I found. I love the metallic! I think that these shoes could set off any outfit. They're priced at $184.95.. and can be found here.

I thought that these were adorable. I think they look like they would be great shoes if you were going to be walking for a long period of time. They would stay securely on your feet with straps, yet would look fashionable enough to wear pretty much anywhere! They're priced at $214.95.. and can be found here.

These shoes make me want to go to the beach or just to my pool. While they're a little pricey just for that I think these shoes would also be a perfect shoe for walking around in. The straps would help to stay on your foot. They're priced at $134.95.. and can be found here.

Didn't see a style you liked? Make sure to visit their site for other shoes that fit your style.
Now all I have to do is save up some money to afford these!
Here's to having comfortable feet!
